Tip

You don't need to take the full road route to reach the waterfall. The path starts at Descansador Lookout, on Lavras Novas' main street. From there, just follow the trail until it meets the road, walk a short stretch along it, and then pick the trail back up toward the waterfall. It's a quieter option with plenty of contact with nature, ideal for those who prefer exploring the village on foot.

Location

Information

Tucked away in the mountains of Lavras Novas, a district of Ouro Preto, Three Drops Waterfall is an invitation to rest and quiet contemplation. Its name comes from the three streams of water that glide gently down a rock face about 12 meters tall, creating a charming, serene setting.

Located about 4 km from the center of the village, the waterfall can be reached via easy, peaceful trails, great for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Those driving in should use a 4x4, given the condition of the dirt road.

On arrival, visitors are greeted by a shallow, crystal-clear natural pool, perfect for children and anyone looking for a refreshing dip. A sandy bank invites you to relax, while the surrounding native forest offers shade and a peaceful atmosphere.

The trail to the waterfall is an experience in itself, with stretches that reveal the area's rich plant life and, with luck, its typical wildlife. Wildflowers and birdsong are common along the way, making the walk even more enjoyable.

Three Drops Waterfall is more than a tourist spot — it's a place where nature shows itself in its purest form, offering moments of connection and calm. Perfect for families, couples, or adventurers, it's a destination that charms visitors and keeps calling them back.

Important:

When visiting any natural attraction, remember that respecting nature is essential. Don't leave trash behind, and don't take anything but memories and photos. Avoid cutting or damaging native vegetation, don't scratch rocks or tree trunks, and always stay on marked trails. Preserving these places ensures others can have the same experience, and that future generations get to see the beauty that still remains.
