Tip
You don't need to take the full road route to reach the waterfall. The path starts at Descansador Lookout, on Lavras Novas' main street. From there, just follow the trail until it meets the road, walk a short stretch along it, and then pick the trail back up toward the waterfall. It's a quieter option with plenty of contact with nature, ideal for those who prefer exploring the village on foot.
Just 5.5 km from the center of Lavras Novas, Sweethearts' Waterfall (Cachoeira dos Namorados) is an invitation to romance and to quiet time in nature. The name is no coincidence — the serene, welcoming setting makes it the perfect backdrop for moments as a couple.
With a drop of about 6 meters, the waterfall forms small, shallow pools, ideal for a refreshing dip. Natural rock ledges beneath the falls double as seating, letting visitors relax as the water slides gently by. The surrounding Atlantic Forest vegetation provides shade and keeps things cool, even on the hottest days.
It can be reached on foot, by bike, on horseback, or with 4x4 vehicles. For those hiking in, the trail is easy, about 1.5 km long, with lovely views along the way. Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen, since there's no infrastructure on site.
Sweethearts' Waterfall is more than a tourist spot — it's a place where nature and love meet in perfect harmony. Whether for a romantic outing or a moment of quiet reflection, this natural refuge promises unforgettable experiences.
Important:
When visiting any natural attraction, remember that respecting nature is essential. Don't leave trash behind, and don't take anything but memories and photos. Avoid cutting or damaging native vegetation, don't scratch rocks or tree trunks, and always stay on marked trails. Preserving these places ensures others can have the same experience, and that future generations get to see the beauty that still remains.
