Information

About 9 km from Lavras Novas, in the sub-district of Chapada, Castelinho Waterfall — also known as Cachoeira da Chapada — is one of the region's natural treasures. Its waterfall feeds a pool of clear, refreshing water, and the setting, surrounded by rocks and native vegetation, makes for the perfect spot to relax and reconnect with nature.

The waterfall is reached via a trail of about 1 km, rated moderate due to some steep stretches. The hike takes roughly an hour on the way in and an hour and a half on the way back, with lovely scenery and chances to spot local wildlife and plants along the way.

For the more adventurous, it's possible to explore the river upstream from the waterfall, where you'll find calm little pools and even a cave with three separate waterfalls. This route is more challenging and requires extra care due to rocks and natural obstacles.

Castelinho Waterfall is an excellent choice for anyone looking for tranquility, natural beauty, and a touch of adventure in Lavras Novas. Whether you're visiting with family, friends, or a partner, this natural refuge promises unforgettable moments.

Important:

When visiting any natural attraction, remember that respecting nature is essential. Don't leave trash behind, and don't take anything but memories and photos. Avoid cutting or damaging native vegetation, don't scratch rocks or tree trunks, and always stay on marked trails. Preserving these places ensures others can have the same experience, and that future generations get to see the beauty that still remains.
